About a month ago on Twitter, I read a tweet that said:
Def gon take my online math classes and pay somebody to do it. I’m too old to be worried about math that shit childish lol
I totally agree with this sentiment. I’ve said before a large portion of our clients are non-traditional students who have “grown man/woman” problems. They have families to support, along with mortgages and other expenses. These people do not want to be bothered with a College Algebra course that features content they probably saw and/or forgot when shortly high school. Does the quadratic formula matter that much when you’re working a full-time job, parenting a child, and are trying to get a degree in something to advance your career?
This is why someone would think that their Math courses are “childish”: the course content–in addition to being trivial–reminds students of stuff they were forced to study when they were children. Many College Algebra courses, for example, are barely distinguishable from high school Algebra 2 course. It shouldn’t be a surprise that many adults in those courses feel like it’s a waste of time (and it is).
Anyway, this is just something to think about if you’re an adult who is being forced to take classes that cover (boring, irrelevant) subjects that you wisely forgot about when you were a child. Instead of wasting time re-learning and re-forgetting the same stuff, hire us to do the work for you instead.
